Truly a “mini-Guinea”, this is a camp is set on the Northern tip of the Big Island at the Lavaroots Safe Place Sanctuary. We so look forward to dancing, playing, moving and sharing with you in our new Living Light Studio. This year will be intimate, limited space, 25 people. So let us know directly, if you would like to attend.
Camp Merveilles Hawaii is five day conference retreat that brings together artists form Guinea, West Africa and Hawaii to share the rich music and dance of their cultures. The conference will be held November 2-6, 2022. Each day features classes in West African Dance, Drum, Hula and morning yoga. Fabulous meals will be provided incorporating fresh, organic, fruits and vegetables from local farmers. This year we will culminate in a Ho’o’iki Presentation for the community. It is an awesome opportunity to perform if one would like the choreographies learnt over the days. This camp is a deepening into the dances, the culture, the land and one another. Camp Merveilles Hawaii is an opportunity to experience the richness of both West African and Hawaiian cultures in the incredibly magical setting of the old Hawaii in North Kohala. Mahalo.
